Privacy Policy

Privacy-first design: Fieldary is designed as an offline-first application. Your field records are primarily stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to Fieldary-operated servers.

1. About Fieldary

Fieldary is a mapping and field-record application designed to help users save locations, structured field notes, media, custom templates, offline maps, and related information.

This Privacy Policy explains how Fieldary handles information when you use the application.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Fieldary stores application data locally on your device. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

Fieldary does not operate its own user account system or cloud database for storing your personal field records.

3. Location Information

Fieldary may request access to your device location so that it can display your current position, center the map, and save geographic coordinates when you create records.

Location information used for your Fieldary records is stored locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it.

You may deny or revoke location permission through your device settings. Some location-related features may not function without this permission.

4. Camera, Photos, and Videos

Fieldary may access your device camera when you choose to capture photos or videos for a record.

You may also choose media through Android's system media picker. Media selected or captured for a saved record may be copied into Fieldary's application-managed storage on your device.

Fieldary does not automatically upload your photos or videos to Fieldary-operated servers.

5. Online Map Services

When you use an online map style, Fieldary may connect to third-party map services in order to download map tiles or other resources needed to display the map.

Current online map sources may include services based on OpenStreetMap and OpenTopoMap.

These requests are sent directly over the internet and may necessarily expose technical connection information, such as your IP address, to the relevant map service or network provider.

The handling of information by those external services is governed by their respective privacy policies and terms.

6. Offline Maps

Fieldary allows you to import compatible MBTiles files for offline use. Imported offline map files are stored locally in application-managed storage on your device.

Fieldary does not automatically upload your imported MBTiles files.

7. Google Play Billing

Fieldary may offer a one-time Pro purchase through Google Play. Purchase processing is handled by Google Play.

Fieldary may query Google Play to determine whether the Google account currently using the application owns the applicable product.

Fieldary does not receive or store your full payment card details. Payment information is handled by Google according to Google's own terms and privacy practices.

8. Export, Backup, Sharing, and Restore

Fieldary allows you to export your records in formats such as CSV, GeoJSON, and structured ZIP archives. Depending on your choices, exports may contain:

Export operations are initiated by you. Android's system file picker or sharing interface may be used to choose where exported files are saved or which application receives them.

Once you export or share information outside Fieldary, its handling depends on the location, application, service, or person that receives it.

Fieldary also supports restoration from compatible Fieldary archive files selected by you.

9. Data Sharing

Fieldary does not sell your field records.

Fieldary does not automatically upload your locally stored field records to Fieldary-operated servers.

Information may leave your device only as necessary for features you choose to use, including:

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Your Fieldary records remain on your device until you delete them, clear the application's data, uninstall the application, or otherwise remove the underlying files.

Fieldary includes a recycle-bin feature. Depending on your selected retention setting, deleted records may remain recoverable for a period of time before permanent deletion.

Permanently deleting a record may also remove application-managed media associated with that record when it is safe for Fieldary to do so.

Files that you manually exported outside Fieldary are not automatically removed when you delete the corresponding record inside the application.

11. Security

Fieldary is designed to keep core record data on your device rather than requiring storage on a Fieldary-operated cloud service.

However, no device, software application, storage system, or network transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and any exported files you create.

12. Children's Privacy

Fieldary is a general-purpose utility and is not specifically designed or directed toward children.

Fieldary does not operate an account system intended to knowingly collect children's personal information.

13. Third-Party Services

Some Fieldary features rely on third-party services, including online map providers and Google Play services.

Those services operate independently from Fieldary and may process technical or account-related information according to their own privacy policies.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Fieldary features, data practices, legal requirements, or third-party integrations change.

The latest version will be published on this page. The effective date shown at the top of this page will be updated when appropriate.
